Our Mission
C.H.E.F. of Lafayette is a local homeschool support group of like-minded Christian home educating families. We are here to encourage, support and assist homeschoolers in our area who are endeavoring to educate their children based on the Biblical, Christian conviction. Members enjoy monthly field trips, recreational and sports activities, monthly newsletters, open board meetings and fellowship. Check out our calendar for the latest events.
CHEF of Lafayette is part of the state-wide CHEF of Louisiana organization, which provides leadership and keeps local homeschoolers abreast on legal and legislative homeschool issues, both statewide and nationally. CHEF of Louisiana hosts a fine homeschool convention and book fair each year. Look for their link on our Links page.
We are a non-profit organization.
What We Believe (statement of faith and family)
Code of Conduct for CHEF members:
CHEF of Lafayette is a Christian Home-school Group composed of families. Each family serves as a representative of our Group, the home educating community, and most important, the Lord Christ Jesus.
We, the parents, understand that all the officers are volunteers and are volunteering their time, efforts and energies to benefit our children and us. We respect these volunteers as we should be respected when we volunteer. We agree to conduct ourselves in a reasonable manner when participating in all group activities. This includes (but is not limited to) dressing morally appropriate, following instructions, respecting authority, careful treatment of property, polite behavior towards others and no smoking, alcohol, drugs, foul language, or obscene gestures. We understand that failure to comply may result in our being asked to refrain from participation in the field trip or activity.

The only requirement is to be a homeschooler, a member of CHEF of Lafayette, and a willing spirit to serve other homeschoolers in the area. The board meets once each month (see calendar for meeting schedule). This is where your voice and input can make a difference.

Meet Our Board

President: Ross Little, Jr.
Ross and Julie Little have been active in CHEF of Lafayette for 11 years and have also served on the board for as many years. They have 4 children: Will, 11, Julie Marie, 9, John, 7 and Noah, 6. ABEKA is their curriculum of choice
Vice President: Barney & Hollie Ward
Barney & Hollie Ward began their homeschooling journey 25 years ago with five children. "We stepped out of the boat with God in order to raise up a generation for the Lord. God has taken us on an awesome adventure thru leadership." The Ward family began by starting a homeschool group in their local area to have support and fellowship. They also served with two other families, as leaders, for 7 years. Barney & Hollie then went on to serve as Regional Reps on the New York State Board for 12 years. In church leadership, the Ward's have also served as home group leaders, children’s church, construction, and marriage facilitators. Their family is exceedingly grateful to God for all of our experiences, trials, and tribulations.
Barney & Hollie Ward have been married for 36 blessed years and are thankful to God for their 10 children and 3 grandchildren. They are currently homeschooling two precious children with one child in a private school.
